After a decade of silence the challenge has surfaced again.
June 3, 2001 self-proclaimed stuntman Tommy Pearson, was preparing to be the first person to jump the Grand Canyon in an automobile. He didn't make it...

Now the Grand Canyon Challenge has been called again. "This time more than Pearson's helmet will leave the ramp," said event producer Allan Mason. Pearson, claimed high winds kept him from jumping, but according to Page Gazette, staff writer Susan Taft, "Pearson's concern should have been getting across, not how he was going to land."
