Hurricane Katrina left its mark on New Orleans August 28, 2005 and will forever be the most devastating event in the city’s history. Our crew headed directly for the flooded areas to capture the destruction. We waded in 5 to 6 foot sewer water holding the cameras and equipment over our heads in an effort to keep it dry. With no bed to sleep on in the city, we headed to LSU where some bunks were provided. Our coverage was centered around the treatment of our four legged companions, that’s why the piece is called, “Katrina’s Companions”. Thanks to Gertrud Maxwell and Amanda Schumacher for their support.
